Jr. Cline and the Recliners – Friday – Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club

The Mid-Atlantic roots band belts out Van Morrison and Sam Cooke covers as well as original compositions at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club (7719 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda) starting at 8 p.m.Purchase tickets online to guarantee dinner seating or buy tickets ($20) at the door. Take the Metro to the Bethesda station and walk to avoid parking fees.

Ken and Brad Kolodner – Friday – Glen Echo

Local father and son bluegrass duo provides the tunes for Friday night’s contra dance at Glen Echo’s historic Spanish Ballroom (7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo). Admission is $10 at the door, and a dance lesson starting at 7:30 p.m. precedes the main event at 8:30.

Unity Band – Friday – Rockville Town Square

The local reggae group offers the latest free entertainment at the City of Rockville’s Friday Night Live concert series. The concert runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Dawson’s Market Stage in downtown Rockville. The temperature is expected to be in the high 70s.

Jam Band Showdown – Saturday – Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club

High-school-age bands perform at Bethesda’s music and supper club (7719 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday for a chance at a professional studio recording contract, which will be awarded by judges. Tickets are $5 (cash only) at the door.

Fête de la Musique – Saturday – Embassy of France

The cultural service of the French Embassy (4101 Reservoir Road, NW, Washington, D.C.) presents the 32nd annual celebration of French music that takes place at French embassies around the world. French guitarist David Lewin opens with an acoustic concert at 7 p.m. followed by a “ciné-concert” on the embassy’s lawn. The French garage group Magnetix has composed an original score for the 1924 film Sherlock Jr. and will perform it as the movie plays. Entrance is free, but online reservations are encouraged. Large backpacks are not allowed on the premises.

Yandel U.S. Tour – Saturday – The Fillmore Silver Spring

Latin hip-hop artist Yandel swings through town Saturday to perform at The Fillmore in Silver Spring. The concert begins at 8 p.m. Purchase general admission tickets online or at the door for $59.
