Missouri swim team places 11th at NCAA championships

COLUMBIA — Missouri’s men’s swimming and diving team placed 11th at the NCAA National Championships on Saturday, a new all-time program best.

The Tigers’ previous best was 14th in 2013.

Through the three-day event, Missouri had five top-seven finishes, earned six individual All-America honors and four for relay teams. The competitors set 11 program records.

Senior Sam Tierney finished his career as the most decorated Tiger swimmer ever with six first-team All-America selections and six more honorable mentions. He placed fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke and reset his own school record in the event on Saturday. Friday, he placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team also set a school record with a 14th place finish with a time of 2:52.40.
